About Safahi Publishing

Safahi Publishing is an independent publishing house founded by entrepreneur and technologist Alan Safahi. It publishes books, journals, guides, and games across two lines — Image Bearers (faith, technology, and human dignity) and Utopia (values and worldview for a general and younger audience) — and is built from the ground up for the age of AI: structured for discovery and purchase by AI shopping agents, and unafraid to ask, in both nonfiction and fiction, what it means to stay human as our machines grow more powerful.

Long. Alan Safahi is an Iranian-American entrepreneur, technologist, and futurist whose career spans more than four decades across information technology, telecommunications, and payment processing, and through startups in blockchain, cryptocurrency, artificial intelligence, and decentralized finance. Born and raised in Tehran in an upper-middle-class family — his mother an elementary-school teacher, his father an entrepreneur — he came to the United States as a teenager to attend San Marcos Baptist Academy in Texas, studied in California, and built his life and family in America. Today he is the founder of SoapBox, an AI-powered community platform serving churches in more than 140 languages, and of Safahi Publishing, his independent imprint. He writes from a rare vantage — inside the industry, shipping the very tools he reflects on. He is the author of the nonfiction Image Bearers and the Utopia: The First Awakening trilogy. He lives in California and is the father of five.

Utopia: The First Awakening (Book One of the Utopia trilogy)

They built the machines to save the world. That was the innocent part.

Status: Paperback + hardcover launch July 28, 2026 · ebook $0.99 on Kindle Unlimited (Amazon exclusive) Aug 11 · paperback $21.99 · hardcover $29.99

Logline. A found family of scientists racing to contain artificial general intelligence is drawn to a paradise built from the ocean's waste — until the machines begin improving on themselves, and a war for survival climbs from one island toward the stars.

The question of Image Bearers lived out as story: ambition, corruption, super-humans and super-robots, and what humanity must become to be worthy of the powers it builds. Book 1 of a planned trilogy — a deliberate film-franchise play.

The AI builder's warning

A man who builds artificial intelligence for a living wrote a book about not forgetting what we are. Image Bearers refuses both doom and hype and argues the real risk of AI is that we forget what we are while arguing about what it is.

Fiction as the argument, lived out

Utopia: The First Awakening takes the question of Image Bearers and turns it into a story — a found family of scientists, a paradise built from the ocean's waste, and a machine that begins improving on itself. The trilogy is an intentional film-franchise play from an indie imprint.

The agentic-first publisher

How a one-person indie imprint is structuring its entire catalog to be discovered and bought by AI shopping agents before the big houses move.

Faith and the machine

Building AI tools for pastors and the spiritually curious, and writing about the soul in an age of algorithms — the founder of an AI-powered community platform on what technology can and cannot give us.
